An Overview of the Canary Islands
The Canary Islands are comprised of seven islands, namely, Tenerife, Gomera, La Palma, Hierro, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. These islands are then subdivided into 2 provinces, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas, for administrative purposes. The first four islands are grouped under Santa Cruz while the last three are under Las Palmas province.
Many adore the Canary Islands as the tourist’s tropical paradise or a holiday haven among the lush green vegetation growing in fertile volcanic soil with lovely beaches and warm sunshine. Tourists and locals flock to this paradise by the thousands all year round, calling them the ‘Fortunate Islands’.
Although all seven islands enjoy the same spring weather, the terrain in each is so diverse from one another that any visitor would be able to differentiate each island easily.
Tenerife Island
This is the largest among the seven islands grouped under the Canary Islands. Tenerife offers amazing fertile valley
views and a huge crater as big as 29 kilometers long, the Las Cañadas del Teide,
which originates from the range of mountains here, splitting the island. Santa
Cruz de Tenerife, its capital, is friendly, modern and renowned for its lovely
gardens.
Gran Canaria Island
This is the second biggest island with Las Palmas as its capital, offering a lovely Gothic Cathedral in the city’s old district which is lined with colorful flora. It is also famed for its splendid large beaches.
La Palma Island
This island is also known as the ‘Beautiful Island’ for its lush and beautiful forests and significant historical importance as a trade harbor in days of old between America and Europe.

The hotels are luxurious and modern with many nature-based or traditional activity offerings. These hotels provide the best spots for avid sunbathers when it comes to sun, fun and view.
You can choose to go for a dip in the cool blue Atlantic sea or in the hotels’ swimming pools. Alternatively, there are Turkish baths and sauna spas for your relaxation and refreshment.
Besides hotels, you can opt for modern and luxurious apartments which are also located near the beach. These apartments also have their own pools and amenities which overlook great views across the Barca Bay. These lovely places are strategically situated to enjoy the nature park as well as the beach and the ocean, with the commercial center only one kilometer away.
