Tourist Hotspot Torrevieja

Torrevieja may be just the right place for those who want something different for their vacation. This city is right in the middle of Alicante and Murcia. Torrevieja is considered an extraordinary Spanish coastal resort city situated on the Mediterranean Sea in sunny Costa Blanca.
Torrevieja means 'Old Tower' as the town has an ancient tower called la Torre Vieja. It was originally built to protect the town from Berber pirates’ attack. Previously a fishing village, the town developed into a prosperous and popular seaside holiday resort.
Places of interest
There are many interesting attractions in Torrevieja which include enchanting monuments and ancient churches. Eighteenth century Iglesia Arciprestal church proves an interesting sight with Church of Our Lady which was built in the year 1896. There are many other impressive churches that are worth a visit. You will also enjoy the many museums found here such as Parque de las Naciones, or Nations Park; Museum of Sea and Salt or Ricardo Lafuente museum. There are even interesting floating museums such as Albatross III and the Dolphin S-61.
Nature lovers will enjoy the natural parks at Torrevieja such as The Lagunas, El Honda, La Mata, and Santa Pola Salinas. Each is a haven for the flora and fauna, especially birds in Torrevieja. Other interesting sights that are worthy of a mention are the Casino which is housed in an ancient building, the Torre del Moro, or Cape Cervera Tower, the Mata Salt Jetty Square, the Old Railway station and the Harbor.
Holiday expectations
