Visiting the beautiful Cordoba

A spectacular city
Cordoba used to be the capital of Spain during the time of the Moors and it is a unique city that you will immediately fall in love with, as there is no other place in Spain where the Christianity, the Islam and the Judaism better live together than in Cordoba. This special mix creates an original air about Cordoba, an air that will make your holiday a memorable one. La Mezquita is one of the most important monuments in Cordoba, built by the order of Abd ar-Rahman, the Great Mosque that displays a beautiful architecture: you can read on its walls a few lines from the Koran, but the element that most attracts the attention of tourists is the piece of bone belonging to Muhammad’s arm, making the Mezquita one of the most sacred places in the world. Besides being such a sacred place, the Mezquita is also one of the most beautiful you have ever seen: the Byzantine prayer niche, the amazing columns, the splendid Christian Cathedral that was built within its walls by the order of Ferdinand III, the Naranjos Patio, a court where you will be delighted by the fountains and the orange trees, all these together make the Mezquita one of those monuments that you have to visit at least once in your lifetime.

The Juderia is situated very close to the Mezquita and it represents the Old Jewish Quarter that remained unchanged by the passing of time, the quarter where you can wander along the narrow, cobbled streets, enjoying the beauty of the monuments and the architectural styles of the buildings. The annual festivals represent another important attraction for Cordoba, as they are extremely colored, joyful and the moments when you can get into direct contact with the amazing cultures and traditions of this fantastic country. The Holy Week is the most popular and famous of all the festivals, with dozens of processions; however, the Crosses of May are also popular, as the festival has as main figures crosses made only by flowers.
